    In the case of Ce3+ doping, efficient non-radiative recombination at Ce3+ sites takes place resulting in a lower light yield and faster luminescence and scintillation response. Th4+ doping shows all the positive features of trivalent ion doping used previously for PbWO4 scintillator optimisation.
