Mating experiments of monokaryotic isolates were used to provide information on intraspecific compatibility of Trametes versicolor. Isolates mostly from Central and South-Eastern Europe but also from South America, Asia and Australia were used for the analysis. Results of the matings showed an almost complete intercompatibility with weak proofs of allopatric speciation. The T. versicolor monokaryons of different mating types were the mated with those of the closely related species T. hirsuta, T. ochracea and T. pubescens from various European countries. Interspecific matings between different Trametes species confirmed a clear delimitation of the species.

Vnitrodruhová kompatibilita Trametes versicolor byla zjišťována pomocí párování monokaryontních izolátů. Pro analýzu byly použity izoláty získané většinou ze střední a jihovýchodní Evropy, ale také z Jižní Ameriky, Asie a Austrálie. Výsledky křížení ukázaly téměř úplnou interkompatibilitu s jen slabými projevy alopatrické speciace. Monokaryonty T. versicolor různých párovacích typů pak byly kříženy s monokaryonty blízce příbuzných druhů T. hirsuta, T. ochracea and T. pubescens z různých evropských zemí. Mezidruhová křížení různých druhů Trametes potvrdila evidentní delimitaci druhu T. versicolor.
