The Fifth International Symposium on the Biology of Terrestrial Isopods as well as the volume of Crustaceana Monographs involving the papers presented at this meeting are both dedicated to Marie Flasarová, who died 29 January 2000 after a brief illness. Her live history as well as scientific career devoted above all to the distribution and biology of terrestrial isopods is briefly summarised. The text is completed by list of her publication on isopods

5. mezinárodní sympozium "Biologie půdních stejnonožců", stejně jako číslo časopisu Crustaceana Monographs, zahrnující příspěvky prezentované na tomto sympoziu, jsou věnovány Marii Vlasařové, která zemřela 29.1. 2000 po krátké nemoci. V tomto příspěvku jsou shrnuty její životopis a vědecká kariéra věnovaná především klasifikaci a biologii půdních stejnonožců. Text je doplněn o seznam jejích publikací zabývajících se stejnonožci
