It is suggested that MHC class I down-regulation can, under some conditions, be a mechanism of the tumour escape from the immune defence. The therapeutic procedures aiming at up-regulation of MHC class I expression, or enhancement of MHC class I-unrestricted (CD4+, NK, NKT, gamma-delta T) tumour defence effector mechanisms by dendritic cell-based therapeutic vaccines, by cytokines (IL-2, IL-12, IFNgamma, GM-CSF), or by the cytokine gene-based, genetically modified tumour vaccines should be considered

Předpokládá se, že snížená exprese MHC 1. třídy může za určitých okolností být mechanismem pro únik nádorů před imunitní obranou. Měly by být zváženy léčebné postupy zaměřené na zvýšení exprese MHC 1. třídy či na posílení efektorových mechanismů obrany proti nádorům neomezeným MHC 1. třídy (CD4+, NK, NKT, gama-delta T), nebo na využití geneticky modifikovaných nádorových vakcín založených na genech pro cytokiny
