Social axioms are generalized beliefs about how the world works. The present research was designed to reveal the culture-level factor structure of social axioms and its correlates across 41 nations. An ecological factor analysis of Social Axioms Survey extracted two factors: Dynamic externality correlates with value measures tapping collectivism, hierarchy, and conservatism and with national indices indicative of lower social development. Societal cynicism, national correlates of which suggest that it is tapping the cognitive component of a cultural constellation labeled maleficence

Statˇ informuje o průběžných výsledcích mezinárodního výzkumu zaměřeného na hledání transkulturně universálních dimenzí obecných přesvědčení o fungování člověka ve společnosti (tzv.sociálních axiomů). Předmětem článku jsou výsledky ekologické faktorové analýzy dotazníku Social Axioms Survey, ve které byly extrahovány dva faktory:(1) dynamická externalita, jež koreluje s kolektivismem, hierarchií, konservatismem a mírami vyjadřujícími nižší sociální vývoj státu a (2) společenský cynismus, jenž zachycuje obecnou nedůvěru vůči sociálnímu systému a ostatním lidem
