Democratic attitudes of young people (ages 16-29) from Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Slovakia (N=1019) were assessed by a Civic Culture Questionnaire. The study presents indexes and analyses of dimensions of democratic creed, Alienation, Political Sophistication and Political Activism.Although the results manifest an overall support for "democracy", a detailed analysis (using cross tabulations, histograms ans Q-factor analysis technique) ilustrates significant national differences and striking variance within individual ieological and ethnic groups. Particular attention is given to specificities among generations and minorities.

Demokratické postoje mladých lidi(ve věku 16-29) let z Běloruska, Bulharska, České republiky a Slovenska(N=1019) byly zkoumány dotazníkem Občanské kultury. Studie poskytuje indexy a analýzy dimensí Demokratismus, Odcizení, Politická sofistikovanost, Politický atavismus. I když výsledky manifestují všeobecnou podporu demokracii jako takové, podrobnější analýzy ( s použitím krostabulací, histogramů a techniky Q-faktorové analýzy) ilustrují významné mezinárodní rozdíly a výraznou varianci mezi jednotlivými ideologickými a etnickými skupinami. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována specifikám mezigeneračním a postojům etnických minorit.
