One to three out of four different species of protozoan parasites were detected in ten individual hawfinches (Coccothraustes coccothraustes Linnaeus, 1758) as follows: Haemoproteus fringillae (Labbe, 1894), Leucocytozoon dubreuili Mathis et Leger, 1911, L. fringillinarum Woodcock, 1910, and L. majoris (Laveran, 1902). In addition, one hawfinch brought to the veterinary clinic was also examined but this bird died after three days. The following parasites were found in the blood sample of this bird: H. fringillae, L. dubreuili, L. fringillinarum and microfilaria Ornithofilaria mavis Leiper, 1909. Blood count examination revealed leukocytosis (heterophilia, basophilia and monocytosis). This bird might have died of the infection with the nematode Ornithofilaria mavis.

U deseti vyšetřených dlasků (Coccothraustes coccothraustes L.) byly zjištěny 4 druhy protozoárních parazitů: Haemoproteus fringillae (Labbe, 1894), Leucocytozoon dubreuili Mathis et Leger, 1911, L. fringillinarum Woodcock, 1910, and L. majoris (Laveran, 1902). Krevní vyšetření a hodnocení vykázalo leukocytózu. Úhyn dlaska byl pravděpodobně způsoben infekcí hlístice Ornithofilaria mavis.
