Application of expandable/collapsible magnetic coil can open the way towards an effective spacecraft velocity increase/decrease without using chemical propellants. The same concept of magnetic attraction can open the way for effective magnetic mining of asteroids. Magnetic interaction between magnetic spacecraft and the asteroid surface can be used for the first order classification of the asteroids.
