Herein, we report the first record of Bothriocephalus acheilognathi in the Big Bend region of the Rio Grande in Texas. Identification of B. acheilognathi was confirmed by morphologic and genetic techniques (sequences of ITS2 and V4-18S rRNA genes). The occurrence of B. acheilognathi might have negative ecological impacts on Rio Grande endemic fishes.
V práci je poprvé uveden výskyt tasemnice Bothriocephalus acheilognathi v oblasti Big Bend řeky Rio Grande v Texasu. Druhové určení tasemnice bylo potvrzeno morfologickými a molekulárními technikami (sekvence genů pro ITS2 a V4-18S rRNA). Výskyt tasemnice B. acheilognathi může mít negativní vliv na endemické ryby řeky Rio Grande.
