Overexpression of erbB2 is associated with resistance to apoptosis. Treating erbB2-low or erbB2-high cells with alpha-tocopheryl succinate (a-TOS) induced similar levels of apoptosis. a-TOS-LTVSPWY conjugate induced greater levels of apoptosis in erbB2- high cells. The level of apoptosis was suppressed by erbB2 RNA interference as well as by inhibition of either endocytotic or lysosomal function. a-TOS-LTVSPWY reduced erbB2-high breast carcinomas in FVB/N c-neu transgenic mice.

Zvýšená exprese erbB2 je spojována s rezistencí buněk vůči apoptóze. Alfa-tokoferyl sukcinát a-TOS) indukoval podobnou úroveň apoptózy u buněk s nízkou i vysokou expresí erbB2. a-TOS-LTVSPWY konjugát indukoval vyšší úroveň apoptózy u buněk s vysokou expresí erbB2. Apoptóza u těchto buněk byla potlačena interferencí erbB2 RNA a připadně inhibicí jejich endocytických nebo lysozomálních funkcí. a-TOS-LTVSPWY konjugát redukoval prsní nádory s vysokou expresí erbB2 u FVB/N c-neu transgenních myší.
