The paper provides a commentary on the status of broadband network and services deployment in Europe’s New Member States, with particular emphasis on Poland, Czech Republic and Slovenia. In particular we examine the progress and impact of telecommunications regulation and describe the strategic initiatives that are being set up to develop sustainable infrastructure to make broadband connectivity widely available to both residential and small business users.

Článek referuje o stavu budování širokopásmových sítí a služeb v nových členských zemích EU s důrazem na Polsko, Českou republiku a Slovinsko. Zejména je zkoumán dopad regulace telekomunikací a jsou popsány strategické iniciativy které byly v těchto zemích iniciovány za účelem vybudování udržitelné infrastruktury, která by umožnila domácnostem a malým podnikatelům přístup k širokopásmovému internetu.
