Specimens of Pecopteris nyranensis, P. miltonii, P. aspidioides and P. polypodioides are from the Pilsen Basin (Westphalian D). Taxonomic characters as cutickles, stomata, reproductive organs and in situ spores have been studied. Chemotaxonomic interpretations hinge on fidelity of preservation of compounds, or molecular fragments thereof, that were synthesized by the once-living plants.

Nálezy druhů Pecopteris nyranensis, P. miltonii, P. aspidioides a P. polypodioides pocházejí z plzeňské pánve západních Čech. Taxonomické charakteristiky jako kutikuly, stomata, reprodukční orgány a spory in situ byly studovány. Chemotaxonomické studium bylo provedeno na molekulární úrovni.
