Článek připomíná okolnosti zřízení Ústavu jaderné fyziky v r. 1955, předchůdce tohoto ústavu i jeho další vývoj. Opírá se o historické prameny (archivní, dobovou literaturu a zčásti též o besedy s pamětníky).

Based on archives sources, literature and interviews, the article describes scientific as well as political circumstances of the foundation of the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Czechoslovakia in 1955, its predecessors and its development up to the present Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences, CR.
