The polymeric conjugates of doxorubicin exhibited significantly improved anti-tumour efficacy and lower acute toxicity compared with the free drug. We have shown increased systemic circulation, decreased blood cell and protein binding, and folate-targeted transgene expression using poly(lysine)/DNA complexes surface-modified with these multireactive hydrophilic polymers.

Polymerní konjugáty doxorubicnu projevovaly výrazně vyšší protinádorovou účinnost a nižší akutní toxicitu než volné léčivo. Komplexy polylysinu s DNA modifikované multireaktivními hydrofilními polymery vykazovaly prodlouženou cirkulaci, sníženou vazbu na krevní proteiny a krvinky a folátem směrovanou transgenní expresi.
