We have characterized the thin films of the aligned arrays as well as separate nanowires by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) using the analytical scanning electron microscope MAIA3 from TESCAN and Zetasizer Nano ZS (Malvern Instruments Ltd., GB) with detector in position 173° on Backscatter detection for DLS technique. We observed, that the seeding layer leads to the nanowires alignment, whereas the lack of the seeding layer leads to the random growth of the flower-like ZnO nanostructures. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) technique is more accurate to characterize nanoparticles with non-spherical shape, because it directly determinates the length and the diameter of the nanowires, while the dynamic light scattering (DLS) technique provides the average size of nanowires. Our approach for mass production powder of zinc oxide nanowires with narrow size distribution is easy, rapid and environment friendly.
