Desátý svazek Korespondence Jakuba Demla obsahuje dopisy Jakuba Demla (1878–1961) Václavu Maršíkovi (1914–2011) z let 1950–1960. Jde o korespondenci jednostrannou, Maršíkovy listy Demlovi se nedochovaly s výjimkou jediného z roku 1960. V souboru se nachází celkem 73 korespondenčních jednotek Demlových, 1 dopis Maršíkův a 6 listů, které napsala Václavu Maršíkovi básníkova spolupracovnice Marie Rosa Junová. Korespondenci doplňují opisy Demlových dedikací Maršíkovi (1950–1951), fotografie z první Maršíkovy cesty do Tasova (1950) a jeho rukopisné Vzpomínky na P. Jakuba Demla (1997), vytvořené na základě dobových poznámek z návštěv u Demla během 50. let. Literárněhistorický komentář Evy Lauberové se zaměřuje na situaci Jakuba Demla v padesátých letech – období, jež pro něj bylo obtížné jakožto pro spisovatele i kněze. Deml se za komunistického režimu rozhodl nepublikovat a nabízené publikační příležitosti opakovaně odmítal. Komentář zkoumá Demlovy dopisy v kontextu historických událostí a nastiňuje, jak nastalá situace zpětně ovlivnila básníkovu korespondenci. Ta v případě listů Maršíkovi vykazuje rysy homiletiky. Vzhledem k tomu, že se tento Demlův adresát nepohyboval v uměleckých kruzích ani nezanechal stopu v běžně dostupných písemnostech, soustředí se komentář též na vykreslení osobnosti a života Václava Maršíka. Tento dlouholetý zaměstnanec spořitelny byl zároveň hledajícím věřícím se živým zájmem o literaturu a hudbu a sehrál důležitou roli jakožto Demlův podporovatel i uchovatel jeho pozdních textů a překladů. Závěr knihy tvoří ediční aparát, který se skládá ze seznamu zkratek, obsáhlých vysvětlivek, jmenného rejstříku, ediční poznámky a soupisu dopisů. Edice také obsahuje výběrovou bibliografii a faksimile různých Demlových rukopisů či Maršíkova strojopisného soupisu Demlových listů.

The tenth volume of The Correspondence of Jakub Deml comprises letters written by Jakub Deml (1878–1961) to Václav Maršík (1914–2011) in the period from 1950 to 1960. It is a one-sided correspondence because Maršík’s letters have not been preserved excepting a single, final letter from 1960 included in this volume. In total, the present collection consists of 73 pieces of correspondence by Deml, one letter by Maršík, and 6 letters written to Maršík by the poet’s amanuensis Marie Rosa Junová. The letters are supplemented by copies of Deml’s dedications to Maršík (1950–1951), photographs from Maršík’s first visit to Tasov (1950), and Maršík’s handwritten Recollections of Father Jakub Deml (1997) assembled from notes he took during his visits to Deml throughout the 1950s. The literary-historical commentary by Eva Lauberová focuses on Deml’s situation in the 1950s – which represented a difficult period for him both as a writer and a priest. Under the communist regime, Deml resolved not to publish and repeatedly refused occasional publication offers. The commentary also describes how the new political situation in turn affected the poet’s correspondence: Deml’s letters to Maršík bear signs of homily. Given that Deml addressed these letters to someone who was not a member of artistic circles and has not left traces in publicly available documents, the commentary also focuses on describing the personality and life of Deml’s addressee Václav Maršík. This long-term bank employee was at the same time a searching believer with a lively interest in literature and music who played an important role as Deml’s supporter and caretaker of his late writings and translations. Finally, the volume includes an editorial section that comprises extensive notes, a name index, editorial notes and a list of all the letters. There is also a selective bibliography, facsimiles of several of Deml’s manuscripts, and a typescript of Maršík’s list of Deml’s letters.
