Toto číslo České literatury se zaměřuje na dějiny čtení, mezinárodně uznávanou oblast kulturní historiografie, která v české literární vědě zůstává poněkud na okraji zájmu, zatímco západní historiografie čtení často opomíjí specifika střední Evropy – jazyková, kulturní, politická či ideologická. Ty přitom historicky formovaly zdejší způsoby vnímání textů. Toto tematické číslo České literatury si proto klade za cíl posílit dialog mezi historiografií čtení ve světě a českou literární vědou.

This issue of Česká literatura is focussing on the history of reading - an internationally recognized field of cultural historiography, which has remained somewhat marginal in Czech literary studies, whereas Western historiography of reading has often failed to account for the linguistic, cultural, political, and ideological specificities of Central Europe - factors that have historically shaped local modes of perceiving and engaging with texts. Therefore, this thematic issue of Česká literatura aims to foster dialogue between global reading historiography and Czech literary scholarship.
