The thematic issue of Slovo a slovesnost was created on the occasion of the forthcoming 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Prague Linguistic Circle (1926) and the 90th anniversary of the journal Slovo a slovesnost (1935). The editors intended to collect a set of studies that critically analyse and reflect on the development, state and form of Czech Structuralism. The selected studies were organized into two parts, corresponding to two separate issues of the journal. They have the title Czech Structuralism Revisited. They also share an introduction, which briefly introduces the historical development of Czech Structuralism. Part 1 features studies that are conceptual-historical (Igor Pilshchikov), theoretical (Vít Gvoždiak), and comparative (Monika Kavalir). All of them extend beyond the boundaries of Czech Structuralism. Part 2 shifts its focus to the external history of Czech Structuralism (Marie Havránková & Vladimír Petkevič) and the application of structur¬alism in the fields of theatre studies (David Drozd) and film studies (Radomír D. Kokeš). It concludes with book reviews that critically assess two recently published books on the limits of Structuralism.
