Keywords : climate change * human rights * future generations
    OECD category: Law

The session explores how to expand the reach of human rights law in time (future generations) and space (global obligations) to address the climate crisis. In relation to the aspect of time, the presentation summarizes the main human rights problems – that its protection does not reach people not yet born and hardly reaches the risk of future rights violations. Then it discusses recent (2023) soft law documents supporting human rights protection of children and future people against the adverse impacts of climate change.
