Článek shrnuje vesměs negativní historiografické soudy o práci Josefa Durdíka v oblasti literární kritiky a konfrontuje je s opomíjeným pozitivním dobovým ohlasem této práce. Za hlavní zdroj podcenění Durdíka několika generacemi literárních vědců označuje jeho rozbor Hálkových básní V přírodě a nakonec se vyrovnává s nejvýznamnějšími argumenty, o něž se opíralo zpochybňování Durdíkovy schopnosti posuzovat nejen Hálkovu poezii, ale básnickou lyriku vůbec.

We summarise mostly negative historiographic opinions on the work of Josef Durdík in the field of literary criticism and confront them with ignored positive evaluation from his times. We argue that the main source or underestimation of Durdík by several generations of literary researchers is his analysis of Hálek’s collection of poems V přírodě. Final section of our article deals with the main arguments that support doubts about Durdík’s ability to review not only the poetry of Hálek but lyrical poetry as a whole.
