This article concerns international law on the use of military force with regard to “extended” interpretation and practice. Various notions such as “armed attack”, “aggression”, “crimes of aggression” and “self – defence” are discussed. Two exceptions to the prohibition on the use of military force are analyzed here: “selfdefence” and “authorization” of military action by the UNSC. Main attention is given just to the UNSC authorization of the use of force and to “unilateral” use of force without approval of the UNSC. At the same time this contribution deals with items such as self-defence against non-state actors, rescue of nationals abroad, principles of necessity and proportionality in the use of force.
