New experimental data for the surface tension of supercooled water measured down to – 23 °C are presented in this study. The data were obtained with the method using a horizontal capillary tube with inner diameter around 0.3 mm. Design of the experimental apparatus, its improvements and preliminary results were recently presented at three international conferences. New horizontal measurements are in good agreement with our previous data obtained with the capillary elevation method [J. Phys. Chem. Lett. 5, 425 (2014), J. Phys. Chem. B 119, 5567 (2015)] and can be correlated with the IAPWS standard for the surface tension of water extrapolated below 0.01 °C. The mutual agreement of two different experimental methods represent an important result verifying correctness of the new data, which show systematic discrepancy from older measurements by P.T. Hacker [NACA TN 2510 (1951)].
