V roce 2015 byla udělena Abelova cena za matematiku J. F. Nashovi and L. Nirenbergovi za jejich význačný přínos k teorii nelineárních parciálních diferenciálních rovnic a její aplikace na geometrickou analýzu. V článku podáváme přehled některých jejich nejdůležitějších matematických výsledků.

The 2015 Abel Prize for mathematics was awarded to J. F. Nash and L. Nirenberg for their striking contributions to the theory of nonlinear partial differential equations and its applications to geometric analysis. We survey some of their most important mathematical results.
