The inhibition effects of quinoline (pyridine) on HDS of benzothiophene (thiophene) on PdMo and CoMo/alumina catalysts were studied. Pyridine and quinoline strongly inhibit HDS on CoMo catalysts, while PdMo catalysts were more N tolerant. Inhibition effect depends both on type of catalyst and the reactivity of hydrogenated HDN intermediate (tetrahydroquinoline, piperidine).
