Stať se věnuje problematice vztahu mezi rodinnou situací jedince a jeho zdravotním stavem a přibližuje jak teoretické koncepty, tak empirické studie, které se dané otázce věnují. V článku se diskutuje otázka selekce a kauzality, důležitost kvality svazku, genderové rozdíly, manželských a partnerských historií a sociálního kontextu.

The article focuses on the link between marital status and health. It offers an overview of the theoretical explanations and empirical studies. It examines the questions of causality and selectivity, the importance of the quality of the union, gender differences, marital histories and contextual variables.
