Studie je věnována práci tří fotografů (Andrease Grolla, Paula des Granges a Franze Polaka), kteří v 50. a 60. letech 19. století systematicky fotografovali buquoyská panství v Rožmberku nad Vltavou a v Nových Hradech, a to na zakázku tehdy hlavního představitele rodu Jiřího Jana Jindřich Buquoye. Práce všech tří fotografů odrážela nejen specifika své doby, možnosti autorů a zachycovala postupnou proměnu architektury a okolní krajiny, ale vzbuzuje i řadu otázek ve vztahu fotografa a majitele panství. Studie přibližuje okolnosti vzniku těchto fotografických souborů a poukazuje na úzké souvislost mezi nimi a v minulosti již publikovanými malířskými cykly z Rožmberku a Novohradska (především Josefa Schütze a Friedricha Ströbela); zároveň autorka naznačuje, jakým způsobem se může interpretace fotografie promítnout do stávajícího pohled na tyto malby.

The study looks at the work of three photographers (Andreas Groll, Paul des Granges, and Franz Polak) who in the 1850s and 1860s systematically photographed the Buquoy estate in Rožmberk nad Vltavou and in Nove Hrady. The photographs were commissioned by the main representative of the family, Georg Johann Heinrich Buquoy. The work of all three photographers not only reflects the specifics of their time and the possibilities open to the photographers and captures the gradual transformation of the architecture on the estate and the surrounding landscape, but also evokes questions about the relationship between the photographer and the estate’s owner. This study describes the circumstances in which these collections were created. It also draws attention to the close connection between them and series of paintings from Rožmberk and Nove Hrady published in the past. It also shows how the interpretation of a photograph can be projected onto the existing view of these paintings.
