Pore microstructure in rocks includes size, shape, volume distribution and connectivity of pores and cracks and has a substantial influence on many rock properties such as strength and failure behaviour. Together with related rock permeability is the crucial factor when assessing the suitability of the rock environment for such demanding engineering applications as CO2 sequestration or high-level radioactive waste disposal. In this study, the X-ray computed micro-tomography (CT) was used to study the spatial distribution of rock porosity and permeability, and the results were compared with laboratory measurement results.
