U příležitosti životního jubilea byl připomenut život, dílo a recepce Otfrieda Preußlera na mezinárodní vědecké konferenci v Liberci v širokém kulturně-historickém kontextu. Vedle příspěvků o jeho (rodinném) zázemí, mládí v Liberci a nakladatelské, překladatelské a ediční síti (také) v době studené války byly v centru pozornosti interkulturní souvislosti jeho díla v Bavorsku, Čechách a Lužici (Der Räuber Hotzenplotz, Der kleine Wassermann, Krabat atd.) a mediální zpracování jeho knih. Také díla pro dospělé (Flucht nach Ägypten. Königlich böhmischer Teil, Ich bin ein Geschichtenerzähler) byla interpretována v kontextu německojazyčné vyhnanecké literatury. Tématem několika příspěvků byla i Preußlerova mezinárodní recepce (např. prostřednictvím překladů) mimo jeho domovské země a Preußlerovo (ne)přijetí v České republice po roce 1989.

On the occasion of his anniversary, Otfried Preußler's life, work and reception was honoured in a broad cultural-historical context at the international scientic konference in Liberec/Reichenberg. In addition to contributions on his (family) background, his youth in Liberec/Reichenberg and his publishing, translation and editorial networks of his oeuvre (also) during the Cold War, its intercultural contexts in Bavaria, Bohemia and Lusatia (Der Räuber Hotzenplotz, Der kleine Wassermann, Krabat etc.) as well as the media treatment of his books took centre stage. Also the works for adults (Flucht nach Ägypten. Königlich böhmischer Teil, Ich bin ein Geschichtenerzähler) were interpreted in the context of German-language literature written by the Expelled Sudeten Germans (Vertriebene). Preußler's international reception (e.g. through translations) beyond his home countries was discusseed too, as well as Preußler's (non-)acceptance in the Czech Republic after 1989.
