Kapitola analyzuje finanční prolínání vrchního ředitele Živnostenské banky Jaroslava Preisse s prezidentem T. G. Masarykem a meziválečnou Kanceláří prezidenta republiky personifikovanou kancléřem Přemyslem Šámalem. Argumentace je rozdělena do dvou podkapitol. Ta první nastiňuje význam Preisse coby prezidentova „poradce“ při shromažďování peněz ze soukromého a veřejného sektoru na dobročinné i politické účely. Druhá podkapitola je případovou studií akumulace jubilejních fondů, konkrétně Národního fondu Masarykova (1920), Jubilejního fondu republiky (1928) a Jubilejního fondu prezidenta T. G. Masaryka (1930). Analyzovány jsou mechanismy, kterými Jaroslav Preiss při shromažďování fondů propojoval prezidentovo okolí s československými finančními institucemi a politicky vlivnými aktéry.

The chapter analyses the financial entanglements of Jaroslav Preiss, the chief director of Živnostenská Bank, with President T. G. Masaryk and the interwar Office of the President of the Republic, personified by Chancellor Přemysl Šámal. The argumentation is divided into two subchapters. The first outlines the importance of Preiss as an “advisor” to the president in raising money from the private and public sectors for charitable and political purposes. The second subchapter is a case study of the accumulation of jubilee funds, namely the National Masaryk Fund (1920), the Jubilee Fund of the Republic (1928), and the Jubilee Fund of President T. G. Masaryk (1930). The mechanisms by which Jaroslav Preiss connected the presidential entourage with Czechoslovak financial institutions and politically influential agents in the accumulation of the funds are analysed.
