Kapitola shrnuje starší názory na původ luxusního šperku na Velké Moravě a dále jak se tato problematika jeví ve světle novějšího výzkumu. Tento šperk se vyskytuje již v nejstarších ženských velkomoravských hrobech datovaných na přelom 8. a 9. století. Při jeho výrobě hrály podle autora hlavní roli módní impulzy vycházející z východního Středomoří.
The chapter summarizes older views on the origin of luxury jewellery in Great Moravia and how this issue appears in the light of recent research. This jewellery is found already in the oldest women's graves dated to the turn of the 8th and 9th centuries. According to the author, fashion impulses from the Eastern Mediterranean played a major role in the beginning of its production.
