The paper analyses the activities of shoe cooperatives and trade associations in Bohemia during the Great War. It mainly focuses on the question of what was the role of the aforementioned subjects in the production of footwear for the Austro-Hungarian army. It deals with the issue of awarding contracts, their processing and delivery of footwear to the state, not only on a normative level, but above all in everyday practice. The article also seeks to answer the question of how important military production was for small traders themselves. In the concluding passages, it considers the changes in the shoe cooperative sector brought about by the war.
