Kostel sv.
Church of St. Markus in Markovice near Žleby stands alone today in an abandoned cemetery on a hill above the defunct village. Only the presbytery remained from the Gothic church, dated mainly to the first half of the 14th century in the literature. The study analyzes its unusual architectural solution without a vault and newly dates the object to around 1370. At the same time, it emphasizes the historical context of the construction and the role of the noble lady Anežka from Landštejn and Žleby in its unfinished construction.
