Tato odborná monografie se zabývá jedním z nejdůležitějších kroků péče o knihovní fondy, a to konkrétně opatřeními preventivní konzervace. Měla by posloužit všem knihovnám v České republice jako inspirace pro monitoring a regulaci klimatických parametrů v depozitářích knihoven. Zároveň může být přínosem pro pracovníky knihoven a dalších kulturních institucí. Představeny jsou výsledky dlouhodobých měření, vývoj metod monitoringu klimatických parametrů, možnosti regulace a případové studie, resp. dílčí projekty kolegů z Akademie věd České republiky. Kniha rovněž seznamuje s problematikou preventivní konzervace a předkládá i objasnění terminologie v této oblasti pro větší srozumitelnost. Kniha obsahuje i desítky názorných fotografií zařízení a grafické zpracování výsledků, toto vše dokresluje celkově přístupy к preventivní konzervaci a pochopení výsledků dlouhodobých měření a sledování podmínek v depozitářích. Důležité je také srovnávání různorodých typů depozitářů, kterými Národní knihovna disponuje, kde jsou názorně představeny přístupy pro různé typy knihoven, resp. depozitářů či skladišť. V neposlední řadě jsou představeny i typy materiálů knihovních fondů a jejich degradační změny vyvolané působením okolního prostředí. Kníhaje určena pro pracovníky paměťových institucí, knihoven, archivů a dalších správců knihovních fondů.

This expert monograph deals with one of the most important steps in the care of library collections, namely preventive preservation measures. It should serve all libraries in the Czech Republic as an inspiration for monitoring and regulating climatic parameters in library depositories. At the same time, it can be of benefit to the staff of libraries and other cultural institutions. The results of long-term measurements, development of methods for monitoring climate parameters, possibilities of regulation and case studies, or partial projects of colleagues from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic are presented. The book also introduces the issue of preventive conservation and presents a clarification of terminology in this area for greater clarity. The book also contains dozens of illustrative photographs of the facilities and graphical treatment of the results, all of which illustrate the overall approaches to preventive conservation and understanding of the results of long-term measurements and monitoring of conditions in depositories. Also important is the comparison of the different types of depositories that the National Library has, where approaches for different types of libraries or depositories or storage facilities are illustrated. Last but not least, the types of materials of library collections and their degradation changes caused by the environment are presented. The book is intended for staff of memory institutions, libraries, archives and other administrators of library collections.
