Výstava představuje výtvarná díla, inspirovaná knihou Zjevení sv. Jana, zvanou Apokalypsa, v rozmezí od středověku až do současnosti. Zaměřuje se především na obrazy, sochy, kresby a grafiky vzniklé v českých zemích, avšak pozornost věnuje i zahraničním pracím, které byly na tomto území přítomné a měly určitý ohlas. Kromě klasických cyklů ilustrované Apokalypsy (Karlštejnská Apokalypsa, Albrecht Dürer) či kontrastních motivů Posledního soudu a vizí nového světa, zpřítomňuje podobu tématu v moderním a současném umění (Jan Koblasa, Václav Boštík, Pavel Nešleha, Josef Bolf ad.). Úzce výběrově jsou prezentovány i ohlasy Apokalypsy v hudbě a literatuře, a to prostřednictvím okruhu českého undergroundu v době tzv. normalizace, v němž hrála apokalyptická symbolika významnou roli.

The exhibition presents a wide range of inspirations from the Book of Revelation of St. John, called the Apocalypse, in fine art from the Middle Ages up to present. It mainly focuses on paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints created in the Czech lands, but it also pays attention to foreign works that were present in this territory and had a certain impact. In addition to classic cycles of the illustrated Apocalypse (Apocalypse in Karlštejn Castle, Albrecht Dürer) or contrasting motifs of the Last Judgment and the vision of the new world, it presents the forms of the theme in modern and contemporary art (Jan Koblasa, Václav Boštík, Pavel Nešleha, Josef Bolf, etc.). There is also a narrow selection of reflections of the Apocalypse in music and literature, through the circle of the Czech underground during the so-called normalization, in which apocalyptic symbolism played a role.
