The present work is focused on the effect of the support surface and metal-support interaction on deep HDS activity at 360 °C and 5.0 MPa of sulfided mesoporous alumina-supported trimetallic NiMoW catalysts. Two preparation methods as sol-gel and hydrothermal processes were applied for the synthesis of mesoporous alumina. NiMoW trimetallic catalysts were synthesized by simultaneous impregnation of the mesoporous alumina supports using ammonium
heptamolybdate (NH4)6Mo7O24.6H2O, ammonium metatungstate (NH4)6H2W12O40.H2O, and nickel nitrate Ni(NO3)2.6H2O as metal sources. The obtained samples were characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, X-ray diffraction (XRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), and transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM).
