Three types of hydride atomizers based on diffusion flame (DF), QTA and DBD were optimized for atomization of three environmentally important volatile Ge species including germanium hydride (GeH4) and its two methyl-substituted analogues – monomethyl germanium hydride (CH3GeH3) and dimethyl germanium hydride ((CH3)2GeH2). Determination of four toxicologically relevant arsenic species including inorganic As (sum of arsenite and arsenate), monomethylarsonic acid, dimethylarsinic acid and trimethylarsine oxide was optimized using HPLC separation with post-column generation of volatile species and their subsequent in-situ preconcentration in DBD atomizer and AAS detection.
