Studie se zabývá významem rostlin pro člověka ve středověku. Zdůrazňuje užitkové rostliny (obiloviny – žito, pšenice dvourzna, nebo technicky využitelné rostliny, jako třeba len). Současně ukazuje na léčební učinky rostlin, které lze najít v herbářích a spisech k lékařství, upozorňuje i na využití v umění (knižní iluminace), tkané textilie, nebo barvení látek pomocí rostlin.

The study deals with the importance of plants for humans in the Middle Ages. It highlights useful plants (cereals - rye, wheat, or technically useful plants such as flax). At the same time, it shows the medicinal effects of plants, which can be found in herbaria and medical writings, and also highlights their use in art (book illumination), woven textiles, or dyeing fabrics using plants.
