Modern demands for the production of electricity and heat require such energy sources that meet low-emission operation without a carbon footprint. Such sources are, for example, today's nuclear power plants or fusion power plants expected in the future. One of the key parameters of these facilities are the efficiency and investment costs of a power conversion system. This article deals with the possibility of using supercritical carbon dioxide as a heat transfer medium in the power conversion system. This work describes the actual state of research in this field, followed by the optimization of preliminary design of a compressor for such a connection. An optimization method lead to a two stages axial compressor, reaching the efficiency of 88.7 %.
