In the Upper Cretaceous, the drop in temperatures during the "Plenus Cold event" allowed the migration of Boreal fauna and their expansion to lower and high latitudes. This change is also observable by analyses of sedimentary rocks (especially oxygen and carbon stable isotopes). New geochemical data obtained from the rostra of belemnite Praeactinocamax plenus from North Siberia, localities along the northern margin of the Tethys Ocean and the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin (Rýzmburk) allowed to reconstruct an areal distribution with a palaeotemperature range during the cooling event.
