Letní škola klasických studií představí publiku tři kulturní rostliny spjaté s antickým světem. Oliva, réva a vavřín budou tvořit tematický základ, na němž odborníci představí posluchačům, jak lidé v antice přírodu kultivovali, využívali i zneužívali a jak o těchto svých aktivitách přemýšleli. Ve workshopech a na přednáškách budou odborníci v příslušných oborech s posluchači dále zkoumat, jak se zejména krajina a rostliny staly v antické kultuře součástí umělecké reflexe světa i prostředky symbolické komunikace. Posluchači poznají tři olivu, révu a vavřín také jako atributy spjaté s náboženským a kulturním prostředím antického světa. Budeme je na LŠKS postihovat v náboženství, performativním umění (hudba, poezie, divadlo), výtvarném umění atp.

The Summer School of Classical Studies will present three cultural plants associated with the ancient world. The olive, the vine and the laurel will form the thematic basis on which experts will introduce the audience to how people in antiquity cultivated, used and abused nature and how they reflected upon these activities. In workshops and lectures, experts in their respective fields will further explore how landscapes and plants in particular became part of the artistic reflection on the world in ancient culture and also a means of symbolic communication. Listeners will also recognize the olive, the vine and the laurel as attributes associated with the religious and cultural milieu of the ancient world. At the Summer School, we will explore these plants in religion, the performing arts (music, poetry, theatre), visual arts, etc.
