Interpretace vybraných částí díla Jana Patočky, týkajících se základní otázky po vztahu života a světa, tak jak je kladena z hlediska fenomenologická filosofie, je v této knize konfrontována s některými poklasickými koncepcemi, jak z pera Patočkových současníků, tak jeho dnešních interpretů. Ve všech částech knihy přichází ke slovu zejména texty dochované v pozůstalosti, jejichž komentář provází a staví do nového světla interpretaci děl, která Patočka sám vydal. Velké místo autor věnuje té části tzv. válečných rukopisů, které se týkají filosofie nitra a jeho výrazu, a pokračuje přes úvahy o prostoru a koncepty přednášek o tělesnosti z let šedesátých, až k reflexím o potřebě a subjektivní fenomenologie a k myšlence předdějinného světa. Kniha věnuje pozornost těmto v literatuře dosud méně komentovaným pramenům, ve snaze o nový pohled na vývoj jedné části Patočkova bohatého díla, kterou prezentuje jako originální verzi fenomenologie přirozeného světa.

The interpretation of selected parts of Jan Patočka’s work concerning the fundamental question of the relationship between life and the world, as posed from the point of view of phenomenological philosophy, is confronted in this book with some post-classical conceptions, both from the pens of Patočka’s contemporaries and his contemporary interpreters. In all parts of the book, it is mainly the Nachlass texts that come into play, whose commentary accompanies and puts into a new light the interpretation of the works that Patočka himself published. The author devotes a special attention to that part of the so-called wartime manuscripts which concerns the philosophy of the interior and its expression, and proceeds through reflections on space and the concepts of embodiment in the 1960s lectures to reflections on the need for an subjective phenomenology and the idea of a pre-historical world. The book pays attention to these sources, which have been less commented on in the literature, in an attempt to provide a new perspective on the development of one part of Patoček’s rich oeuvre, which he presents as an original version of the phenomenology of the natural world.
