Anti-value was a notion coined by Marx relating to his analyses of fictitious capital. I draw on Cédric Durand’s and David Harvey’s understanding of fictitious capital as the presently dominant form of capital in order to show that the disintegration of the value form constitutes a key element of the critique of capitalism. I will argue that the crux of contemporary Marxism is how to explain the relation between anti-value and value. Hypothetically, the dominance of anti-value enables us to strengthen the role of political praxis.
