The aim of this work was to develop a novel catalyst based on nanofibrous polymeric support. Polybenzimidazole was selected due to its high thermal stability and electrospinning preparation method was employed in order to prepare polymeric support with morphology, which would be beneficial for the application in catalysis. Due to high porosity of the electrospun membrane and resulting low mass transfer limitations, the catalytically active phase is readily accessible for the reactants. Moreover, the high porosity of the support is important for the industrial application of the catalysts in order to achieve sufficiently low pressure drop in the catalytic reactor.
