O presente dossiê tem como objetivo reunir estudos inéditos realizados no Brasil sobre povos ciganos nos últimos anos e apresentá-los ao público acadêmico mais amplo. Pretende-se mostrar esses povos como agentes que vêm co-construindo o Brasil há séculos e a variedade de experiências vividas por eles no contexto nacional. A partir de diferentes abordagens empíricas (e em grande parte dos casos, privilegiando o ponto de vista cigano), os artigos mostram alguns dos modos como os coletivos ciganos no Brasil articulam as relações internas (de parentesco ou comunais) e com o mundo não cigano à sua volta.

This dossier brings together unpublished research about Romanies undertaken in Brazil in recent years and presents them to a wider academic audience. The aim is to show Romani peoples as agents who have been co-constructing Brazil for centuries and the variety of experiences of these peoples in the national context. From different empirical approaches (and in most cases, privileging a Romani point of view), the articles gathered here reveal some of the ways in which Romanies in Brazil articulate internal relations (of kinship or communal), on the one hand, and with the non-Romani world around them, on the other.
