Etnomuzikologický a etnochochoreologický seminář volně navazuje na předchozí akce tohoto typu pořádané od počátku třetího milénia na půdě Etnologického ústavu AV ČR, v. v. i. Jeho smyslem je podpořit na domácí výzkumné půdě diskurz, který by reflektoval proměny paradigmatu obou spřízněných disciplín v mezinárodním badatelském kontextu. Impulzem je tentokrát realizace Strategie AV21 Akademie věd České republiky v programu Město jako laboratoř změny. Předmětem našeho zájmu jsou zde městské festivity, v nichž se hudebně taneční projev stává součástí tzv. rituálního jazyka schopného přenášet společně sdílené symboly do roviny veřejné komunikace. Sledovány jsou zejména takové události, které si vypůjčují prvky venkovských tradičních lidových slavností a manipulují s jejich formou a obsahem v novém sociokulturním kontextu města, či svou koncepcí napomáhají utváření identity místa. Tato problematika je zároveň rozvíjena v souladu s ontologickou proměnou urbánní antropologie, která v současné době zahrnuje široké spektrum problémových okruhů.

The Ethnomusicology and Ethnochoreology Seminar is a loose continuation of previous events of this type organized since the beginning of the third millennium at the Institute of Ethnology of the CAS, v. v. i. Its purpose is to promote a discourse on the domestic research ground that would reflect the changes in the paradigm of both related disciplines in the international research context. The impetus this time is the implementation of the Strategy AV21 of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in the programme City as a Laboratory of Change. The object of our interest here is urban festivities, in which musical and dance expression becomes part of the so-called ritual language capable of transferring commonly shared symbols to the plane of public communication. In particular, we are looking at events that borrow elements of rural traditional folk festivals and manipulate their form and content in the new socio-cultural context of the city, or whose conception helps to shape the identity of the place. At the same time, this issue is developed in line with the ontological transformation of urban anthropology, which currently encompasses a wide range of problematic areas.
