New genus and species of Eustigmatophyceae, Trebonskia zoosporica Přibyl and Procházková, was described using polyphasic approach. Both 18S rRNA and rbcL phylogenetic analyses put our isolate into clade IIc of Goniochloridales, which was confirmed by detailed morphological and ultrastructural analyses. This species is unique among related taxons by solely zoosporic mode of reproduction.
