Tématem publikace je středověké a novověké osídlení na zájmovém území projektu NAKI II “Historická krajina na pomezí Slezska a Moravy” (DG18P02OVV017), tj. v širším okolí Moravské brány. Úvodní část publikace přináší velmi stručný popis přírodních podmínek geomorfologicky pestré oblasti. Stěžejní část publikace přináší shrnutí základních etap zdejšího osídlení od příchodu Slovanů na počátku raného středověku až po konec novověku, tj. období kolem přelomu 18./19. století, s důrazem na determinaci dílčích sídelních oblastí a postižení rozdílů mezi nimi v času a prostoru. Poslední část publikace se formou exkursů věnuje dílčím tématům odrážejícím různé podoby vztahu lidských komunit a jejich historických sídel na straně jedné a využití okolní krajiny na straně jedné a využití okolní krajiny na straně druhé: valašská a pasekářská kolonizacem historické prameny o využití lesa na některých feudálních panstvích v novověku, formování komunikační sítě v historické krajině.

The topic of the publication is the medieval and modern settlement in the area of interest of the NAKI II Project „Historical Landscape in the Borderland between Silesia and Moravia“ (DG18P02OVV017), i.e, in the wider surroundings in the neighbourhood of the Moravská brána. The introductory part of the publication provides a very brief description of the natural conditions in the geomorphologically diverse area. The main part of the publication provides a summary of the basic stages of the local settlement from the arrival of the Slavs at the beginning of the early Middle Ages to the end of the modern period, i.e. the period around the turn of the 18th/19th century, with an emphasis on the determination of the sub-settlement areas and the differences between them in time and space. The last part of the publication is devoted to partial themes reflecting different forms of the relationship between human communities and their historical settlements on the one and the use of the surrounding landscape on the other: Walachian and glade farming colonization, historical sources on the use of forest on some feudal estates in the Modern period, the formation of the communication network in the historical landscape.
