Cílem následujících řádků bude prezentovat trojici případových studií, které se váží k okruhu témat, pro který se postupně vžívá označení archeologie modernity. Jedná se o trojici textů, z nichž dva jsou doplněnými a upravenými českými verzemi anglickojazyčných studií vyšlých v letech 2019 a 2021 v impaktových zahraničních časopisech, zatímco poslední z nich je prvotní zprávou o záchranném archeologickém výzkumu realizovaném na jaře 2021, jenž vzbudil mimořádný, český i mezinárodní mediální ohlas. Účelem vydání takto pojaté, rozsahem nevelké antologie stále ještě velice aktuálních textů je zpřístupnění těchto prvotních výsledků archeologického studia moderní společnosti v rámci Archeologického ústavu AV ČR v Praze širšímu okruhu českých čtenářů. Ambicí autorů a vydavatele je naplnit motto Strategií AV 21 Špičkový výzkum ve veřejném zájmu. Publikace je vydána v rámci programu Odolná společnost, řešeného konsorciem převážně společenskovědních ústavů AV ČR v letech 2021–2025.

The aim of the following lines will be to present three case studies, which are related to the range of topics for which the term the archaeology of modernity is gradually coming into use. These are three texts, two of which are supplemented and modified Czech versions of English-language studies published in 2019 and 2021 in high-impact foreign journals, while the last of them is the initial report on rescue archaeological research carried out in the spring of 2021, which aroused an extraordinary Czech and international media response. The purpose of the publication of such an anthology, conceived in this way and yet small in scope but with more and more topical texts, is to make these initial results of the archaeological study of modern society within the Institute of Archaeology of the CAS in Prague available to a wider circle of Czech readers. The ambition of the authors and the publisher is to fulfil the motto of the Strategy AV 21 Top research in the public interest. The publication is published within the program Resilient Society, resolved by a consortium of mainly social science institutes of the CAS in 2021–2025.
