Our recent advances on polymer-stabilised orthoconic antiferroelectric liquid crystals (PSOAFLCs) eliminated the asymmetry of switching times in electro-optical effect based on surface stabilized OAFLCs and paved the way for their effective use in many photonic and optoelectronic devices required very fast switching. To fabricate new modifications of PSOAFLCs, besides bi- and tetrafunctional monomers, multicomponent base AFLCs mixtures with very low meting point, higher stability of antiferroelectric phase at lower temperatures and higher helical pitch length are desirable. The obtained results highlight a possibility of utilizing compounds with phenyl biphenylate structure of the rigid core, designed under this work, together with previously prepared compounds with biphenylyl benzoate rigid core to formulate multicomponent OALFC mixtures with very low melting point and very high helical pitch length.
