The tomb of the military leader of Blučina, in South Moravia, is one of the richest “princely” burials in the Middle Danube region from the second half of the 5th century. It belongs to the chronological horizon of Tournai (tomb of Childéric) - Apahida. The tomb of Blučina brings together in its grave goods the signs of power (solid gold bracelet with enlarged ends and, the fibula imitating forms of a high officials of the Late Antiquity) and pieces of arms from the steppe world. This tomb may belong to the Heruli, the East Germanic people who held the North Danubian area in post-Hunnic times. On the other hand, it is quite possible that the Heruli may have represented only a military elite who reigned over the population of various origins, in particular the Suebi.
